MISSION

for the

VT Natural Resources Conservation Council



It is the responsibility of Council to provide leadership to Conservation Districts by;

  • Guiding program development through objectives established for allocation of state funds,
  • Developing policies that improve the sustain-ability of Conservation Districts,
  • Represent District needs to the Administration and Legislature,
  • Maintaining an effective communication network among Districts.


The Council will use the following means to achieve this mission.

Scanning for future natural resources concerns

Seeing that state funds are used wisely and effectively

Supporting policies and programs that improve the sustainable of Districts

Assist Districts in program development related to priority natural resource concerns



The Council has these goals for next two years.

1. Direct District programs to address concerns that are in high priority areas in the state basin planning process.

2. Increase the visibility of, and demonstrate the positive environmental results of District program.

3. Describe the impact District programs have at the local level to the Legislature. Work with the Legislature to determine mutual goals to conserve the natural resources of Vermont.

4. Increase the coordination between VACD and NRCC on legislative issues of mutual concern.

5. Continue strong support for Information Technology development in Districts, to increase communication and outreach, through hardware and software updates and staff training.

6. Support conservation education outreach to youth, through Districts, especially continued growth of the Envirothon.
