Burlington, Vt – A new figure is being seen at events and parades all over Vermont. The Vermont dairy mascot has been entertaining kids and adults and helping to educate people about the importance of dairy to our state and in our diets.

Yesterday, she was introduced to Wally, the Red Sox mascot at a rally in Burlington where Governor Douglas announced that July 13, 2008 is Vermont Day at Fenway Park. The two became fast friends and had the crowd laughing and cheering for the Red Sox and Vermont.
“The dairy mascot is a fun and unique way to get kids, and adults, to think about the importance of the dairy industry in our state economically. Dairy is the largest agriculture sector in Vermont. Dairy products are also important to our health and wellbeing,” said agriculture secretary Roger Allbee.
Funded through the Vermont Dairy Promotion Council, the dairy mascot is still searching for a name. You can help choose her name by visiting www.vermontagriculture.com. The three choices are Buttercup, Clover and Daisy. You can meet this lovely lady on Friday, June 27th at the Monpelier Recreation field when the Mountaineers play the North Shore Navigators. Her name will be revealed at the game sponsored by Vermont Dairy Farmers. If you would like more information about having her attend your event, please call 802-828-3829.
