What: Agriculture officials plan a celebration to unveil the new Vermont dairy mascot.
The Agency of Agriculture’s new mascot will make its first appearance to an audience of over 300 kids at Georgia Elementary School on Monday. The yet to be named mascot has been months in the making and is here just in time for June is Dairy Month activities.
A mascot parade will kick off the festivities followed by presentations from Jill Goodroe of New England Dairy Promotion and Jacque Parent, a Vermont dairy farmer. Koi Boynton with the Agency of Agriculture will describe the essay and naming contest for our state’s dairy mascot.
“The dairy mascot will help kids better understand the importance of dairy in their communities and in their diets,” said Roger Allbee, secretary of agriculture. “It’s a fun way to get kids, and adults, to think about the impact of the dairy industry for everyone in the state.”
