Agency of Agriculture Announces Capital Equipment Assistance Program

Montpelier, Vt - The Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets is pleased to announce a new program that can provide financial assistance for the purchase of equipment for alternative manure applications.

The Capital Equipment Assistance Program (CEAP) is dedicated to provide financial assistance for implements designed for alternative liquid manure applications. Complete manure injectors and injector attachments are examples of implements that could be eligible for the program. Other examples of eligible equipment include: Houle Hydraulic Disc Injector, Aerway Aerator and Yetter Avenger Injector.

Financial assistance is available up to 50 percent of the total purchase cost and not to exceed $50,000 for each implement. The funds are available beginning July 1, 2008 and applications are due to the Agency by July 31, 2008.

This funding is available to custom applicators, groups of farmers, and individual farmers in that priority order. Priority will be given to applicants from the northern lake area of the Lake Champlain Basin followed by the remaining Lake Champlain Basin, the Lake Memphremagog Basin, the Connecticut River Basin, and the Hudson River Basin.

An annual report stating manure application rates and amount of acres treated must also be submitted to the Agency for four years after inclusion in the program. For more information about this program or to receive an application please contact Jeff Cook at (802) 828-3474 or visit:
