The final payment from the Vermont Target Price Program was made on December 15, 2006.  The payment rate was $1.06/cwt and the payment was made on October pounds information.

The Governor and Legislators agreed that the payment be made ending the program, to provide needed funds to Vermont dairy farmers for purchase of feed for the winter months, purchase grain to offset poor quality forages and purchase fuel for equipment.  Under the guidelines of the program – payment rates would be very low or at zero for many months into 2007 due to rising milk prices.  This final payment provides the remaining $2.2 million to dairy farmers at a critical time.
