The Dairy Song

"The Dairy Song" being performed by the East Montpelier Kindergarten on Dairy Day on the State House lawn.

Some have spots,
others are brown.
Dutch ones are belted,
but don't have a crown.
They all wear earrings
with numbers in front.
The tiniest calf
on the farm is the runt.

Born with horns,
soon they get chopped.
All cows are females,
the chewing never stops.
Milked in the morning,
by hand or machine.
Again in the evening,
The milk's white and clean.

They line up,
time to get milked.
All in their places,
their skin soft as silk.
Udders are swollen,
with four hanging teats,
You squeeze 'em real gently,
for milk fresh and sweet.

Chorus:

Holsteins and Jerseys
Dutch ones and Guernseys
Ayrshires and Brown Swiss
are cows that we love.
They all have four stomachs,
we wish we did too.

Big friendly mammals that moo.
