Plant Pathology

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture Plant Pathologist is charged with identifying plant diseases occurring in nurseries, greenhouses, field crops, retail outlets, home gardens and the non-forested environment generally, and providing appropriate counsel on control methods and options.  The objectives of the plant pathologist include:

  • Diagnose plant diseases
  • Make recommendations for disease prevention and control, with emphasis on Integrated Pest Management techniques
  • Conduct nursery inspections
  • Provide outreach and education
  • Increase public awareness of native and exotic plant diseases

The office of the plant pathologist is located at the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets Laboratory in Waterbury, Vermont.
