Asian Longhorned Beetle

Similar Appearance of Longhorned Beetle and Whitespotted Sawyer Beetle from www.dcnr.state.pa.us

In June we receive many inquiries about possible sitings of the Asian Longhorned Beetle. Look closely at the two illustrations. The Whitespoted Sawyer beetle is quite common in Vermont and has smaller spots. The center spots at the top part of the back (elytra) are very distinctive for this species. The Asian Longhorned Beetle does not have these center spots.
