Asian Ladybug
This partidular introduced species can be highly abundant . The most distinctive feature is the black "W" on the thorax, just behind the head.
There are many species of ladybugs in Vermont. However, this species has many different variations (left photo). It may displace other native labybug species. This species particular likes to cluster in and around homes during the winter months. If you find this species filling window crevices by the thousands-- check for the "W"-- use your vaccuum cleaner to suck them up. You will not affect the population, as it is quite prolific. All immature ladybugs (right photo) are important predators of aphids and can be considered beneficial.
