Automated online notification system
The Vermont Agency of Agriculture has an automated
online notification system for those who want to be notified in the
event that adult mosquito control spraying for West Nile virus is needed in their
area. The West Nile Virus Adult Mosquito Control Automated
Notification System will supplement the Agency's traditional methods
of reaching Vermonters with information through television, radio and
newspapers.
This online notification system allows the Agency, in conjunction
with local officials, to better address specific concerns related to
any potential for mosquito adulticide spraying. West Nile Virus has been detected in Vermont
in several locations; however we have not recommended spraying to reduce potential vectors of West Nile virus.
Several towns in Vermont have organized to form mosquito control programs. For current information on the location of these mosquito districts see the link below. The Agency of Agriculture provides financial and technical
assistance to these towns and would also provide advice
to other towns should treatment be required.
