West Nile Virus has been found in Vermont. The Vermont Agency of Agriculture and the Vermont Department of Health have a program to monitor mosquito borne diseases in Vermont.

  • Become a volunteer in your communityLook for mosquito breeding areas
  • Help collect mosquitoes to be identified
  • Educate others
  • Organize into a mosquito district
  • Assess needs for mosquito control in your town

What can the Vermont Agency of Agriculture do?

  • Work with your organized mosquito district
  • Trap adult mosquitoes ands breeding areas in your community
  • Identify important pest/vector mosquitoes
  • Identify breeding areas of specific mosquito species
  • Work with the mosquito district to apply targeted mosquito larvicides
  • Provide pesticide training and recommendations for adult mosquito control
