Feed and Fertilizer Laboratory

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture's Feed and Fertilizer laboratory was established in 1986. The laboratory is responsible for analyzing feed and fertilizer products sold on the retail market to ensure they meet label guarantees. Samples are collected at manufacturing plants, retail stores and farms by Agency field agents.

Feed Tests

  • Fiber, Fat, Protein, Minerals, Moisture, Ash
  • Mycotoxins: Aflatoxin and Ochratoxin screening
  • Vitamins A and E
  • Lasalocid

Fertilizer Tests

  • Nitrogen, Phosphate, Potash, Micro-nutrients
  • Micro-nutrients in manure from anaerobic digestion, 'Cow Power'
